Waste into fibre.

Citratex is a materials startup turning citrus waste and hemp biomass into a new fibre — making the next chapter of textiles more circular.

Our material idea

A better loop starts with what we already have.

Waste is a material waiting to happen.

Citratex is building a closed-loop path from citrus waste and hemp biomass to a new generation of fibres.

We create one-engineered fibre by recovering cellulose from both waste streams, integrating it before fibre formation using green chemistry and closed-loop processing, turning it into a scalable textile material.

01

Recover waste

Extract Cellulose

03

Return to use

From waste to useful fibre.

A startup building the bridge between food-systems and agri waste for better material choices.

Recover citrus residue

We collect citrus residue that would otherwise be treated as a by-product, and look for the fibre within it.

01

Recover hemp biomass

Recover hemp cultivation waste and turn it into cellulose for a consistent material input.

02

Blend the cellulose

Both cellulose streams are integrated before fibre formation and converted into one regenerated fibre.

03

Keep the loop moving

We design the material pathway for future products using green-chemistry and a closed-loop process.

04

Two materials.
One loop.

Explore the two natural inputs behind Citratex, and the new direction created when they work together.

STREAM 01

Citrus fibre

A second life for the fibrous citrus residue left behind by juice and food processing.

STREAM 02

Hemp fibre

A second life for underutilised biomass generated during hemp cultivation and processing.

LOOP

Citratex blend

Citrus waste and hemp biomass, brought together as a new fibre direction for more considered products.

From two waste streams
to one new fiber.

We are developing a new regenerated fibre by bringing together two underutilised waste streams — citrus processing waste and hemp cultivation biomass.

01

Collect

We collect citrus waste and hemp cultivation biomass and use as feedstock for cellulose recovery for the beginning of a new material story.

02

Recover

We recover and purify cellulose from both feedstocks, removing any non-cellulosic components for useful consistency and character.

03

Integerate

We combine the citrus cellulose with hemp cellulose at the material stage, engineering them into one integrated fibre.

04

Regenerate

Our process to regenerate cellulose involves green-chemistry and closed-loop recovery — keeping resources in use for longer.

Built by people who see possibility in waste.
